This is the same data source formerly downloaded at notebook runtime using `geodatasets.get_path("geoda.chicago_commpop")`. A local copy allows the chapter's calculations and static maps to run without a data download. The geodatasets registry lists the license as `NA`; retain source attribution and consult the original provider for reuse terms. Population fields refer to historical 2000/2010 counts, not current population. The chapter computes area and density for illustration using the supplied polygon geometry in EPSG:26916.
